Pemberdayaan Kelompok Lanjut Usia (LANSIA) dalam Pencegahan Demensia Alzheimer melalui Program Lansia Produktif di Desa Taman Ayu Kabupaten Lombok Barat

Purpose - This community service program aims to increase public knowledge about the prevention of Alzheimer's dementia, strengthen early detection of cognitive function disorders in the elderly, increase the capacity of health cadres, form sustainable health services for the elderly, and develop productive economic empowerment for the elderly in Taman Ayu Village, West Lombok Regency.
Design/Methodology/Approach The approach carried out through the Program is implemented using a participatory-based community empowerment approach that integrates promotive, preventive, and economic empowerment aspects. Activities include health education, cognitive function screening using the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), health care training, the establishment of an Elderly Posyandu integrated with the Family Posyandu, ecoprint training, and assistance with the village government, health centers, and community partners.
Findings - The findings obtained in this program involve 126 elderly people as targets. A total of 118 elderly people (93.7%) took part in cognitive function screening and 38 elderly people (32.2%) were identified as at risk of cognitive impairment, so it was recommended for follow-up. The knowledge value of participants increased from 56.3 ± 12.4 to 87.5 ± 8.6, or an increase of 31.2 points (55.4%). A total of 15 health cadres were successfully trained, 1 Elderly Posyandu was formed which was integrated with the Family Posyandu, 25 elderly people took part in ecoprint training, and 20 elderly (80%) were able to produce ready-to-sell products with an average additional income of IDR 450,000 per month. The satisfaction rate of participants reached 94.2%, indicating that the program was very well received by the community.
Originality/Value - The value to be achieved in this Program is to offer an elderly empowerment program that integrates Alzheimer's dementia prevention, strengthening community-based health services, and productive economic empowerment. This model has the potential to be replicated as a strategy to support healthy ageing, increase the independence of the elderly, and strengthen the health service system at the village level.
